The role of conservation in the professional training of future journalists

Abstract

In the article the linguistic-and-didactic potential of taking notes in professional training of future journalists is stipulated. On the basis of the analysis of specialized sources the concept «taking notes» is specified, in the article it is construed as a written process of transforming a perceived (aurally or visually) text or its subsequent fixation for further reconstruction of the information received; the stages of taking notes are determined. It is stressed that taking notes enables development of logical thinking, improves speech culture and consolidates the information read and heard in memory.

It is established, that mastering the skills of taking notes is essential for students as far as their self-education concerns, moreover, the formed skills of perceiving and reproducing a text are professionally significant for journalists. It is defined that the principal requirement for consistent formation of the skills of taking notes (as an acquisition instrument) is the level of development of students’ auditive and reading skills; systematic engagement of future journalists to the process of everyday acquisition of the scope of a program is crucial; an important criterion of the quality of taking notes is deemed to be the efficiency of using the notes taken to achieve academic target. It is stressed, that linguistic and semantic reduction takes place simultaneously with the graphic shortening of an incoming text in the resulted notes; their complex algorithmization enhances expedience and purposefulness of mastering the note taking system. The result of the process of taking notes is deemed to be an outline completed by a student. The communicative competence of the future journalist is disclosed as a set of knowledge of students about effective communication, as well as a set of professionally significant skills necessary for prompt and adequate perception of other speech behavior programs and the mobile construction of their own communication strategies, adequate goals, spheres, genres and situations of communication.

Construed by linguodidacts classifications of exercises enabling formation of skills of taking notes is analyzed and examples of exercises aiming at development the skills of taking notes are provided. It is stated, that the like exercises should be implemented in line with a definite system, not sporadically.
