Application of the principle of nationalism in the process of school study of I. Kotlyarevsky’s works
Abstract
The article describes the possibility of realization of the principle of national-centrism during the study of works by Ivan Kotlyarevsky «Aeneid» and «Natalka Poltavka». It is proved that thanks to the creativity of this writer it is possible to form a historical memory and national dignity in the youth. The national color of the works is considered, the widespread use of Ukrainian ethnography, folk songs, knowledge of life, people’s culture, customs and
traditions is explored. It is concluded that the importance of national education lies in the fact that it helps to know their people, their past, contributes to the formation of moral values of the individual, fosters pride for ethnicity to the Ukrainian people.
Recently, national literacy has been increasingly emphasized in the lessons of Ukrainian literature. In particular, the problem of forming a high national consciousness during the study of Ivan Kotlyarevsky’s work is urgent.
The study and analysis of literary works by I. Kotlyarevsky «Aeneid», «Natalka Poltavka» in the 9th grade makes it possible to use the principle of national-centrism. Because his works are characterized by an appeal to folk poetry. They have widely reproduced Ukrainian ethnography, knowledge of life, culture of the people.
The writer believed that national educational and cultural traditions, beliefs, customs were of great importance in the educational work. In his works he reveals their wealth, acquaintance with which gives the education of national orientation, helps to shape national consciousness, respectful attitude to cultural heritage. I. Kotlyarevsky’s creative work contributes to the revival of folk customs, traditions, language, culture.
