Realization of the storytelling method in the lingual and literary education

Abstract

The article states that in the realization of cultural and literary education, such method as storytelling plays a special role. The origin and borrowing of the storytelling concept, its features and types (cultural, social, family, friendly, personal, jumpstory) are determined in the article. The modern tendencies of teaching principles realization based on the corresponding method storytelling are revealed. The emphasis is on the practical application of storytelling method in real life. The main types and functions of storytelling in the educational process are considered. They are: motivational, unifying, communicative and utilitarian. It is found that using storytelling you can get two important results: the revival of the atmosphere in the classroom, the removal of tension, the creation of a relaxed atmosphere. Storytelling is one of the easiest and quickest ways to establish contact between a teacher and students, a means of attracting and retaining their attention. Storytelling is a good way to motivate, persuade students to inspire them to act as an initiative in the learning process. The art of storytelling is described as one of the most natural and, at the same time, most effective ways of giving the educational process a special quality. The author emphasizes on the effectiveness of teaching methods of narrative stories that are important: basic (sample, plan, analysis); auxiliary (question, reminder, indication, promotion, prompt); specific (recording student stories, inventing miniature stories, united by one actor, etc.). Stories must be meaningful, logically consistent, accurate, expressive, understandable to the audience, independent, small in size. The features and advantages of storytelling as one of the most interesting and most effective modern teaching methods are explored. Consequently, storytelling as a form of study at school has enormous practical benefits: easy assimilation of material, the development of imagination, overcoming the fear of public speaking, establishing relationships with other students, self-knowledge. In the modern educational situation, such method is the option of non-formal learning and is used as additional to academic. The main factor in the success of storytelling is the selection of timely narrated stories.
